I am a former bookstore manager turned librarian, and a reviewer for Library Journal.
I mainly devour the fantasy genre (with all its subgroups) with some venturing into science fiction. I have also been know to dally with a historical fiction novel now and then.
I am also always looking for recommendations, so feel free to drop me a line!
Hi April,
I read your review of Dark Faith and found your comments insightful and intelligent. Perhaps you might be interested in reading my debut novel, A Satan Carol, published recently (12/11) as an ebook by Wild Child Publishing.
About the book…
What does the devil really want?
Nostalgic for the Inquisition and plague, Satan feels neglected by the modern world that no longer blames him for disease and death. He plans to create a new genesis, a place where people will love him. For that, his son needs just the right soul.
And there is one—unique, powerful, able to heal. To get it, Satan has a plan that begins in Ireland in the famine year, 1848, and 180 years later traps a young girl and her family in demonic forces pushing them to kill.
A Satan Carol is a horror story with a message for those who want to understand God’s apparent absence as the intersection of freewill and choice. It is a story with religious themes written for a secular reader. It is, in the end, a tale about family values–even if they originate in hell.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said “You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear.” She
put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched
her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is completely off topic but
I had to tell someone!
April,
Hi April, not sure if you have the time or inclination, but I would love to send you a copy of my new book Cold Hearted, Yancy Lazarus Episode Two. You read and reviewed the first book in the series, Strange Magic, so I thought you might be interested in this follow-up novel. I’ve pasted the book blurb below, and I’d be happy to send you a gift copy if you’re interested. You can reach me at JamesAHunter@outlook.com and thanks again.
Best Regards,
James
Blurb:
Yancy Lazarus just wants to be left alone. He wants to play his blues music, smoke a few cigarettes, and otherwise leave the supernatural world to fend for itself.
He especially wants to be left alone by the Guild of the Staff—the mage ruling body—where he used to work as a Fix-It man. But when a little kid gets nabbed by an ancient Fae creature from the nether regions of Winter and the Guild refuses to set things right, he just can’t seem to heed good sense and leave things be.
Nothing’s ever easy though. Turns out, the kidnapping is just the tip of one big ol’ iceberg of pain and trouble. It seems some nefarious force is working behind the scenes to try and unhinge the tenuous balance between the supernatural nations and usher in a new world order. So now, if Yancy ever hopes to see the bottom of another beer bottle, he’s gonna have to partner up with an FBI agent—an agent who’s been hunting him for years—in order to bring down a nigh-immortal, douchebag mage from a different era. And to top it off, Yancy’s gonna have to pull it off without his magical powers … Boy, some days just aren’t worth getting out of bed for.
